Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica the 2008 100 Meters Beijing Olympic Games Gold Medalist left nothing to chance as she came out of the blocks as crisply as she could and could not be hauled in by the likes of her countrywoman Veronica Campbell Brown, Carmelita Jeter of the USA and Blessing Okagbare of Nigeria who most Track watchers were expecting to Medal and become the first African Woman to do so at the Olympics in the event.
Blessing had a lackluster start given the quality of the field and even though she had put in a lot of work for a late race kick, she could not haul this high level crop of athletes back and she would end up in 8th position with a time of 11.01 barely out leaned by fellow African Muriel Ahoure of the Ivory Coast who also clocked the race at 11.00 seconds for 7th place.
Now it is back to the drawing board for both Blessing and Murielle who are bound to dominate the sprint world soon.
