The outgoing president of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Nahim Khadi says he will not be throwing his support behind any of the candidates aspiring to become president of the SLFA in the August 23rd -25th 2012 Elections.
He said: "I am ready as a Sierra Leonean to work with whosoever emerges as winner of those elections as my own contribution towards developing football in the country."
Briefing the press on Friday 20th July 2012 at the Football Academy in King Tom Khadi said: "members of the Football Family should stop 'campism,' be you white or black because football is all about unity hence people need to come together to develop the game."
Meanwhile, the SLFA Executive has endorsed the 23rd to 25th August 2012 date for the said Elective Congress in Kailahun, east of Sierra Leone. It was the FA's Electoral Committee that postponed the said congress from last week of July 2012 to the above mentioned dates thereby sparking a lot of controversies. The endorsement of August for the FA Elections was according to officials made during an Executive meeting last Thursday.
The Electoral Code road map stipulates that the process should last for 30 days prior to the elections. To this end, the 16th - 19th August should have been the date based on the current road map however, since the above dates coincide with Ramadan the committee resolved to extend it to 23-25 August 2012.
The SLFA Executive has also confirmed the Acting General Secretary Abdul Rahman Swaray as the substantive Deputy General Secretary whiles he continues to act as General Secretary.
